This past Sunday, three top U.S. synchronized skating teams competed at their first international competition of the season, the Santa Claus Cup 2024 in Brno, Czech Republic. This charming European city is the second largest in the Czech Republic. The event hosted 26 synchronized skating teams competing at ISU category (senior, junior and advanced novice levels), along with 33 synchro teams competing at non-ISU category (adult, pre-juvenile, juvenile, basic novice and mixed aged levels).
At the junior level, the competition was fierce. The top three medalists were separated by less than 1.3 points. Dream Edges Junior from Finland claimed the gold medal with 191.31 points, while Teams Elite finished second with 190.51 points, and Skyliners Junior secured bronze with 190.04 points.
At the senior level, Team Unique and Marigold Ice Unity, both from Finland, dominated, securing the top two spots with scores of 227.32 and 221.44 points, respectively. Skyliners earned the bronze medal with 193.56 points. They have all skated creatively and beautifully.
Congratulations to all three U.S. synchro teams who medaled in this event. We look forward to the rest of the international competitions this season.
